It may have seemed unbelievable, but it is possible. FC Barcelona basketball, after a season full of ups and downs, tensions and disappointments, is capable of finishing the campaign with a title. That, of course, depends on letting imagination roam, because to achieve it they will have to overcome a very tough semifinal against CB Tenerife, a team that has already beaten the blaugrana this year at the Palau Blaugrana, just a few months ago. And, as if that weren’t enough, they come from defeating Real Madrid in the quarterfinals.
Perhaps Marcelinho Huertas, Patty Mills and company arrive somewhat fatigued for the semifinals against Barça, a best-of-five that Xavi Pascual’s side hopes to win on talent and, why not, on physical wear. However, CB Canarias has already shown that it is not to be underestimated; it is one of the best teams in the current Liga Endesa and, if it must reach the final by eliminating Madrid and Barça, it has the capacity to do so.

Sparks, Emotion and Accumulated Fatigue at the Palau
Both teams reach the semifinals after pushing the quarterfinals to the limit. Barça needed the third game to eliminate UCAM Murcia (2-1), but sealed the series with authority with the 76-100 at the Palacio de los Deportes. That victory helped erase the previous stumble at the Palau and restore the team’s best form, with names like Clyburn, Punter or Vesely pulling the load.
The Lenovo Tenerife qualification drew even more media attention: Txus Vidorreta’s squad eliminated Real Madrid, the Regular Season champions, also by 2-1 and without home-court advantage. The Tenerife team won both games played at Movistar Arena, including a third duel (95-107) in which Patty Mills shone with 29 points and a tireless Marcelinho Huertas added 23, returning to the Palau.
Huertas and Mills are shaping up as major outside threats, along with the interior presence of Shermadini, while Barça’s offensive responsibility will once again fall on Punter, the top scorer so far this season, in addition to Shengelia, Clyburn and Tomas Satoransky.
