I’m a fan of a hearty morning sandwich, with McDonald’s sausage-egg McMuffin often in my sights. Yet I never shy away from trying other spots. So when two breakfast favorites face off, I usually pick from fast-food options. This time, there’s a twist: the challenger isn’t a restaurant at all, but a retailer.
The item under scrutiny? Chick-fil-A’s iconic chicken biscuit—a simple, no-frills breakfast sandwich that delivers a bold kick of flavor and keeps you satisfied until lunchtime. And who would be a worthy rival to one of the heavyweights in the chicken game? Naturally, Costco would be the challenger. The wholesale giant has started stocking Mason Dixie chicken biscuits. So we dug in to compare the two and decide which one comes out on top.
Costco
As you might expect, Costco is unbeatable on price. A box containing eight Mason Dixie chicken biscuits goes for $15.99, which works out to about $1.99 per sandwich. If you swing by Chick-Fil-A for just the sandwich, you’re looking at nearly four dollars.
However, the Mason Dixie version came with a bit of a learning curve. I found the microwave to be a poor method for reheating the sandwich. It wasn’t the worst breakfast sandwich I’ve microwaved, but it certainly wasn’t something I’d reach for again. Since the box also included air fryer instructions, I gave that method a try as well.
Using the air fryer produced a markedly different outcome. It brought the texture closer to Chick-fil-A’s sandwich than the microwave did. But does that swing things in its favor? Not everyone owns an air fryer, and pulling out a dedicated appliance just for a breakfast biscuit isn’t convenient. When the quality of the experience hinges on the device you own, that disadvantage weighs against it.
Chick-fil-A

The Verdict
Alors, quel biscuit au poulet remporte la mise selon moi ? Bien que le coût puisse être plus élevé, le goût et la commodité du biscuit Chick-fil-A l’emportent largement à mes yeux. Et puis, j’apprécie d’ajouter des croquettes de pommes de terre en forme de bouchées et la boisson qui me convient ce matin-là. Si je prépare le sandwich à la maison et que je veux une boisson ou un accompagnement, je dois m’en charger moi-même. Cette fois, je décerne donc la victoire à Chick-fil-A.
Ce n’est pas pour autant que le sandwich Costco est mauvais et qu’il faut l’éviter. Si vous cherchez juste le sandwich et que vous pouvez le réchauffer correctement, foncez. C’était un bon sandwich. Mais parfois, d’autres facteurs pèsent plus lourd que le coût.
