Mars has long marked Summerween by rolling out early Halloween candies and a variety of tricks and treats. They were gracious enough to send over a Boo Box stuffed with Halloween goodness, including several new items for the season. Yes, it’s still technically summer, but the stash is hefty. Mars doesn’t just give candy—they gift it generously. This haul should keep me stocked for months (perhaps until Halloween—who’s keeping track?).
The assortment blends familiar Halloween staples with a handful of newcomers. I may have pressed my sugar limits, but I made sure to sample each item. And yes, I did try the pumpkin Snickers—no doubt they’d be amazing even without tasting.
Everything Inside
To begin, there are some non-Halloween-specific sweets: Peanut Butter Snickers and Skittles Gummies in fun-size portions. I hadn’t tasted Skittles Gummies before, which made trying them a playful experience. I’m already a fan of Peanut Butter Snickers, so even without seasonal flair, they remained tasty little bites.
Following that, the usual Halloween-tinged twists appear—Snickers and Twix. The Ghoulish Green version simply colors the nougat and biscuit green for a eerie touch. I’m cautious about artificial coloring since bright hues can alter flavor (you can ask me about Red Velvet cake). Yet these retain their vivid color without an artificial taste. It’s the classic Snickers and Twix, now wearing a Halloween makeover.
Including Some New Treats
Pumpkin-shaped candies are a crowd-pleaser, and I’m right there with the fans. Yet there are moments when I crave something beyond the usual chocolate-and-peanut-butter combo. Mars delivers with Snickers pumpkins—same classic Snickers components, now in a festive pumpkin form. Honestly, I may prefer them to certain other candies.
There’s also some playful M&M’s varieties. In both original and peanut flavors, the usual colors have given way to orange and black pieces, complemented by eerie-themed packaging. The highlight returning favorite is pumpkin pie M&M’s. I’m tempted to stash all the pumpkin-hued pieces because they’re delicious. The bag may say share, but I’m not planning to share much.
Lastly, two new treats join the lineup this year. One is Twix Skulls—a regular Twix reimagined in the shape of a skull. A little skull bite can be fun, and it was tasty, offering more than a traditional Twix bar. They won’t overthrow Snickers pumpkins, but they’re a strong runner-up.
Not Everything Was A Hit
Not everything landed perfectly. The Creepy Crunchy Skittles Pop’d are freeze-dried Skittles. Freeze-drying removes moisture, turning chewy candy into a crisp bite. It reminded me a bit of crunching on gravel, yet the flavor remains rainbow-sweet without being harsh on the mouth. The unusual look isn’t typical candy, but the quirky texture could be perfect for a Halloween party. You could even label them gravel or rocks in a candy spread. Who wouldn’t want to lean into the Halloween vibe, right?
