Talk about an awkward moment. This is something I haven’t encountered before. Aldi has rolled out only three new items this week. Quite the letdown. Normally I’m wrangling inward debates about which five products deserve a spot in the weekly haul. Not this time. The choice was made for me in a heartbeat.
Yet there’s another angle: one item arrives in three distinct versions this week, while another comes with two variations. In other words, we might actually be looking at six fresh offerings this week! Impressive—nearly a bonus. What a treat, Aldi. You’ve truly outdone yourself. Let’s dive into the trio—or perhaps sextet—of new products headed to Aldi stores this week.
Priano Maple, Bacon, & Ricotta Tortellini (9/16; $4.29)
Aldi is sneaking in a fall-inspired dish at the last minute. Sure, it’s only mid-September, but given how quickly the grocery scene shifts these days, peppermint and gingerbread could be on shelves next week. Snag these while they’re available! The combination of maple and bacon with ricotta sounds like the ultimate autumn comfort food to keep on hand for evenings when you want something cozy and easy.
Bavarian Soft Pretzel Twists or Sticks (9/16; $4.79)
This week brings some notable innovations from Aldi: soft pretzels offered in both the traditional twists and sticks. The minor letdown is that these frozen pretzels don’t come with a mustard or cheese dip included. The best part about grabbing something from the freezer section is having everything you need in one box, so you don’t have to shop separately for dips. Aldi, there’s still time to tweak this. Then again, Aldi is known for its dips, so we can always supply our own if needed.
Deutsche Kuche Savory Strudels (9/16; $4.49)
The grand finale—a standout release. Aldi is launching three versions of these savory strudels this week. Expect options like spinach and ricotta, roasted pepper and cheddar, and mushroom and cheese varieties.
I do find it a bit peculiar that the first two specify a particular cheese on the box while the third simply lists cheese. Which cheese is it, exactly? We’ll have to wait until they land in stores on the 16th to discover. What a tease! All three would make for perfect appetizers—cut into bite-sized pieces and arranged for guests at a shindig.
