With so many potato chip brands vying for a place in your pantry, picking one that truly earns its spot can feel almost heroic. You want a crisp, not-so-greasy bite that doesn’t skimp on flavor, and you want a chip that can stand up to dip, whether your dip is thick or thin. It’s a tricky call. Lay’s, Ruffles, or Tostitos may come to mind, but there’s another option worth considering: Wrap City.

We were fortunate enough to test a range of Wrap City potato chip flavors, and after the first crunch, you might well forget those familiar names even exist. We sampled six varieties and came away thoroughly impressed. This New Hampshire–based outfit began by turning out small batches of kettle chips in the back of a sandwich shop back in 2015. Once customers tasted them, the chips became a go-to item, and for good reason. Each bag proudly proclaims that the experience will be “Love at first crunch,” and our tasting certainly affirmed that sentiment. Here’s a closer look at each flavor we tried and why it’s worth seeking out for snack enthusiasts.

Original Flavor

This variant caught me off guard in the best possible way. A gentle sweetness mingled with the expected savory salt to create a surprising and satisfying kick with every Russet slice. The sweet-and-salty balance felt almost luxurious, and the chips themselves were thick and sturdy with a gratifying crunch that complemented the flavor pairing. I hadn’t anticipated Original to deliver such a bold impact, but I’m certainly glad it did.

Sea Salt

The Sea Salt chips avoid the pitfall of over-salting. They strike a clean, approachable balance—salty enough to please, yet not so aggressive that it leaves your mouth puckered or craving water after a few bites. The result is a simple, dependable snacking experience that shines through in a straightforward, delicious way.

Sea Salt and Vinegar

Salt and vinegar is a classic combo when done right, and Wrap City nails the pairing here. The saltiness stays in check, while the vinegar kick provides a bright, tangy zing that stays in rhythm with the cheese-like creaminess of a good potato chip. The overall bite remains balanced, with the tang and salt complimenting each other as you chew.

Barbecue

Barbecue chips can be a hit or miss, but Wrap City’s take lands firmly in the win column. Rather than an overpoweringly smoky profile, these chips present bold, zesty notes paired with a touch of sweetness that breathes through. Each chip offers a satisfying heft and texture, making you crave a proper barbecue-flavored finish after you’re done snacking.

Sour Cream and Onion

Sour cream and onion is a beloved pairing among chip fans, but it can be ruined if the flavors aren’t balanced. Wrap City handles it with poise: the sour-cream element delivers a creamy mouthfeel, while the onion adds a bright, sharp kick that lifts the creaminess rather than overshadowing it. The result is a well-rounded, satisfying bite that lingers pleasantly.

White Cheddar Jalapeño

White cheddar is one of my all-time favorite chip flavors, and Wrap City’s version adds a jalapeño twist that enhances rather than overwhelms the cheese. The cheddar comes through as a creamy, bold note, while the jalapeño brings a warming heat that lingers on the palate. It’s a sublime pairing that feels indulgent without tipping into overwhelming spice.

Rating: 10/10

Wrap City’s lineup demonstrates a strong command of kettle-chip technique and flavor balance. Across six distinct flavors, the chips offer sturdy textures that pair well with dips, while maintaining a clean, satisfying finish that invites another bite. If you’re looking to expand beyond the usual supermarket staples, Wrap City presents a compelling option with a genuinely enjoyable snacking experience.
