This week at Crumbl, the Halloween spirit is in full force. From seasonal flavors to eerie decorations, every element stays perfectly on theme. This includes, of course, the cookie we sampled today, whose flavors echo the Halloween sweets we all adore. While the most beloved Halloween candy can vary from person to person, I’d bet a good amount that many will lean toward that fantastic chocolate-and-peanut-butter pairing.
Our Official Thoughts
Pros — Truth be told, this stands among Crumbl’s finest cookies we’ve tasted, thanks to a distinctly balanced profile that’s quite a rarity at Crumbl. Not only is there a noticeable touch of salt, but the sugar level isn’t extreme, making the sweetness easier to manage. I’d attribute this more to the peanut butter base, which lets that flavor take center stage rather than an overly sugary finish.
On top of that, the cookie’s texture is notably pleasant compared with Crumbl’s usual offerings. Served warm, you get a lovely contrast between a crackling, crisp outer crust and a tender, gooey (yet fully baked) interior. This cookie doesn’t rely on being underbaked to stay moist. Once again, we suspect the peanut butter element plays a major role in achieving this balance.
Beyond the texture and balance, the flavor itself really tugs at the heartstrings. The peanut butter and chocolate combination, especially during this time of year, feels nostalgic and incredibly comforting.
Cons — In the same vein that its nostalgic flavor is a strength, it’s fair to note that it isn’t strongly chocolate-forward. The peanut butter dominates, and the classic balance found in a peanut butter cup between chocolate and peanut butter isn’t as perfected in this cookie.
Granted, we didn’t necessarily expect it to be since the cookie is peanut butter-centric. That said, it remains very tasty and deeply nostalgic, particularly when you hit a bite with the little peanut butter cups inside.
