Aiper IrriSense 2 Test: A More Precise Connected Sprinkler for the Garden

Tech

The Aiper IrriSense 2 picks up the formula of the first model, already convincing, but it improves its mapping system. Easier to configure, more precise and more pleasant to use, this connected automatic sprinkler remains, however, imperfect on a few software points.

The Aiper IrriSense 2 does not upend the recipe for maintenance-free, fixed-installation irrigation. Like its predecessor, which we welcomed in 2025, it promises to water a lawn or garden without burying pipes or juggling solenoid valves. For the general principle and basic operation, our test of the Aiper IrriSense 1 remains largely valid.

This second generation keeps the same philosophy, but a few weeks of use are enough to reveal its real novelty. It doesn’t hide in the cylinder placed on the lawn, but in the way you teach it where to water.

Unboxing and Setup

The IrriSense 2 remains a bulky unit (22.3 x 26.8 x 58.2 cm, about 4.8 kg), designed to live outdoors during sunny days, connected to a garden hose and an electrical outlet. This is still one of the points to anticipate before buying: the unit does not run on batteries. You’ll need an external power supply nearby (roughly 10 meters), which may limit its appeal in some gardens.

For the rest, Aiper keeps one of the true strengths of the first model: easy and quick installation. You plug in the unit, connect the water (standard 16 mm – 5/8″ – and 19 mm – 3/4″ hoses with the included quick-connect), open the app, and follow the steps. In a few minutes, the system is recognized, connected and ready to operate.

Good surprise: updates turned out to be noticeably less laborious than with the first generation during setup. This may seem secondary, but on an outdoor-connected product, this kind of detail can quickly become annoying.

What changes, and what doesn’t

From a hardware perspective, the IrriSense 2 does not feel like a complete redesign. The formula remains the same: a smart rotating sprinkler capable of managing multiple zones (up to 10 maps), scheduling sessions and adapting watering to a map defined in the app. The device can be moved if you need to cover a distant lawn or, well, operate in concert with other IrriSense 2 units.

Aiper claims up to 445 m² of surface coverage per device and a reach of up to 12 meters depending on available pressure. In practice, as with any irrigation system, the terrain, water flow, and wind will have a say.

Surprisingly, updates were also much less laborious to perform during setup than with the previous generation. This may seem minor, but on an outdoor-connected product, this kind of detail can quickly become annoying.

One pleasant surprise: updates went much more smoothly than with the first generation during our onboarding. It may seem minor, but on a connected outdoor product, this kind of detail can quickly become irritating.

Aiper IrriSense 2: Clubic’s verdict

Conclusion
Overall rating
8 / 10

The Aiper IrriSense 2 doesn’t reinvent connected irrigation, but it clearly improves on a concept that was already highly appealing. Without buried installation, without trenches or a complex setup, it positions itself as one of the simplest and most effective solutions on the market, perhaps even the most convincing today.

The mapping makes serious progress, the precision is impressive, and the experience becomes smoother. Everything isn’t perfect yet, notably on the app side, but this second generation mainly confirms one thing: Aiper has here a strong alternative to traditional irrigation systems.

Pros
  • Simplicity and speed of setup
  • Precision of watering zones
  • New nozzle
  • Update speed
  • Watering-zone configuration
Cons
  • Cannot delete a scheduled irrigation (without changing the schedule)
  • Late rain-cancel alerts
  • Fertilizer reservoir unusable
  • When will there be a battery version?
