Investing in cryptocurrencies without being a finance expert: that’s what more and more European platforms are offering. Bitpanda is among those that have managed to stand out. Accessible to beginners as well as more seasoned users, this broker relies on a polished interface and a wide selection of assets to distinguish itself in a crowded market. The real question, however, remains what it feels like to use the tool on a daily basis. We tested Bitpanda to deliver our full review of the platform.
Bitpanda started in 2014 in Austria and quickly emerged as a pioneer in a rapidly growing market. Its ambition is to offer a large number of financial assets, and while cryptocurrencies remain the primary interest, it also offers savings services, a payment card, and other initiatives such as Bitpanda Fusion, a tool designed to buy and sell cryptocurrencies at the best price.
In 2026, a respectable crypto trading platform is typically accompanied by a wallet, a native DeFi token, and more sophisticated web3 tools to select assets and trade at the best price. These are, of course, features Bitpanda offers, with an added layer of pedagogy!
The platform has also moved regulatory boundaries by achieving full compliance with more than fifteen European licenses, including MiFID II, PSD2, or EMI status. More importantly, it recently obtained the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulatory framework license, a must-have credential to prove its legitimacy on the European market. Additionally, the platform is registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers in France as a PSAN and asserts full compliance with AML5 anti-money laundering requirements, with client funds secured, notably through the use of offline wallets.

Bitpanda: key takeaways
- A platform built for European regulation. Bitpanda was among the first to secure the MiCA license, the new European regulatory framework of reference, and it remains PSAN-registered with the AMF in France. A reassuring factor for the most cautious investors.
- Much more than a crypto exchange. With over 10,000 products in total (650+ cryptos, about 7,500 stocks, 2,500 ETFs and several precious metals), Bitpanda has embraced the all-in-one approach to become a true general investment platform.
- Transparent fees, but not the cheapest on the market. Expect 0.99% on Bitcoin and stablecoins, up to 1.49% on other cryptos. Highly active traders can reduce this with Bitpanda Fusion, where fees drop to as low as 0.02%.
- The programmed savings plan, the real strength. Bitpanda Savings enables automating purchases (daily, weekly, or monthly) to smooth risk over time — the feature that most convinces the platform, especially for “periodic buyers” investors.
- French tax remains your responsibility. As Bitpanda is an Austrian company, your account is considered foreign-held: form 3916-bis remains mandatory, and the platform does not provide an IFU as a French broker would.
Bitpanda updates for July-August 2026
Bitpanda continues to accelerate its use of artificial intelligence applied to investing. Two recent announcements illustrate this direction.
AI can now manage your portfolio, with your consent
Bitpanda opened access to its account via the MCP (Model Context Protocol), allowing a compatible AI assistant (such as Claude) to connect directly to your Bitpanda wallet. In practice, you can now ask your assistant to review portfolio allocation, prepare a rebalancing strategy, or even place a crypto, stock, ETF, or precious metals order without leaving the chat.
Bitpanda emphasizes one point: the AI does not execute anything without explicit user validation, whether order by order or via a prior authorization. A developer version (API) also exists for those who prefer to code their own automations.
Automated trading arrives on Bitpanda Fusion
Bitpanda Fusion, Bitpanda’s advanced trading platform, now enables 24/7 automated execution via an API or an AI assistant, with the same liquidity aggregated from 12 global platforms as the manual version, tiered fees down to 0.02%, and an infrastructure compliant with the MiCAR European regulation.
TRADING FEES WITH COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY
Bitpanda has always prioritized transparency and ease of use. In this spirit, we have recently made all transaction fees fully visible in the app, giving investors even more control and confidence. For example, trading fees for Bitcoin and stablecoins start at just 0.99%, while Bitpanda Fusion offers rates as low as 0.02% for high-volume traders.

From sign-up to funding
Signing up with Bitpanda is quick, but it is not taken lightly. After providing your email address, we received nearly fifteen attachments (in English) related to the legality of the services offered. The platform places emphasis on security and transparency, and this is only the beginning.
Once the email is validated, we are asked to answer six questions as part of anti-money-laundering measures. We will encounter questions about the origin of funds, our professional situation, net annual income, or our wealth assessment. These questions are a normal step for opening a brokerage account at any EU financial institution. Since Bitpanda also offers stocks or metals for trading, nothing surprising here.

Once this information is provided, we are asked to undergo identity verification that includes receiving a code via SMS and a video verification service. It is possible to complete this process by activating the camera on your iOS or Android smartphone. After this lengthy verification process, the funding limits for a verified account are as follows: €10,000 per 24 hours for online payments (EPS, SEPA, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, PayPal), €20,000 per 24 hours for credit cards, and up to €10,000,000 per 24 hours for incoming SEPA transfers. Note that funding can be done in any of the following fiat currencies: EUR, USD, CHF, GBP, TRY, PLN, HUF, CZK, DKK, SEK, and USD.
Unlike some 100% crypto platforms, Bitpanda is a regulated exchange. This might annoy utopians who would find this approach intrusive, but one should remember that sector regulation is increasingly necessary for platforms to continue operating, especially in Europe.
Verified users can thus enjoy a significant unlock of limitations, since the online deposit limit is raised to €10,000 per 24 hours, €20,000 per 24 hours for credit cards, and up to €10,000,000 per 24 hours for SEPA transfers.
From money deposit to trading
Once the verification process is complete, the platform is available to start trading, whether you are a beginner or an experienced trader.
Easy to use, it enables multi-asset transactions with a wide range of products available for trading:
- Cryptocurrencies: over 650 cryptocurrencies to date. It is now possible to buy them by comparing the best market prices with Bitpanda Fusion.
- Crypto indices: very handy to invest in a “basket of cryptos” with a single product. Five indices are offered: Bitpanda Crypto Index 5, Bitpanda Crypto Index 10, Bitpanda Crypto Index Infrastructure Leaders, Bitpanda Crypto Index Media & Entertainment Leaders, and Bitpanda Crypto Index 25. Each month, the index composition is adjusted based on data from a third party.
- Stocks: more than 8,000 different stocks. Most are American and come from industrial and tech sectors (Netflix, NVIDIA, Tesla, etc.).
- ETFs: these are baskets of equities similar to crypto indices. Major global stock indices like Euro Stoxx 50, SP 500 and Nasdaq 100 are present alongside MSCI Emerging Markets or MSCI World. BitPanda counts more than 2,500 ETFs in 2026.
- Precious and semi-precious metals: gold, silver, palladium, or platinum are offered on Bitpanda. In terms of fees, precious metals follow a similar logic to cryptocurrencies, with a built-in markup on the displayed price. For gold, expect 0.5% on purchase and 1% on sale, making it the cheapest asset to trade in this category. Silver, palladium, and platinum are considerably more expensive, with markups ranging from 1.8% to 2.5% depending on the direction of the trade. Note that Bitpanda charges no custody or storage fees on these assets, unlike some traditional precious metals players.

To place an order on an asset, go to the price tab where you will find all available assets, then select the wallet and confirm the operation. You can also swap one currency for another with a single click. Overall, we appreciated the ease with which operations are performed on the platform, as well as on the Android or iOS app that allows similar actions.
The markups for buying and selling cryptocurrencies on Bitpanda vary by asset: 0.99% for Bitcoin and stablecoins, 1.49% for other cryptocurrencies (2.49% for Bitpanda Spotlight coins). These markups are included in the price displayed during the transaction: the crypto or fiat amount shown in the order summary is the exact amount received, which explains a price quotation difference compared to platforms that charge their fees separately. Note that you can reduce these fees through the loyalty program linked to VS tokens.

To facilitate these operations, Bitpanda launched Bitpanda Fusion, a centralized interface that aggregates in real time the order books of major cryptocurrency platforms like Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, or Bybit. This feature gives users access to the best prices available on the market without juggling multiple accounts or interfaces.
The limit orders
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced trader, limit orders simplify trading by allowing you to buy or sell at a predefined price. This time-tested technique is fairly new on the platform, and it helps limit exposure to volatility.

Tiered fees based on exposure
In addition to this ease of use, Bitpanda Fusion adopts a competitive fee structure that scales with trading volume over the last 30 days. The first tier starts at 0.25%, but the most active users can benefit from reduced fees down to 0.02% (for very high volumes). Finally, all trades are secured by cold storage for assets (custodial wallet) and full compliance with European Union regulations.
Bitpanda Wealth
With the launch of its Bitpanda Wealth platform, Bitpanda provides a venue designed exclusively for institutional and high-net-worth investors. It is a solution aimed at ultra-wealthy individuals, family offices, external asset managers, or large corporations.
Web3 tools for seasoned crypto traders
The famous decentralized finance sector still has plenty of life, and Bitpanda provides a wider toolkit to manage your savings day after day. Among the innovations, the following stand out:
Bitpanda Earn, a comprehensive staking offering
Staking is the generic term for methods to make your crypto work to earn a gain. Bitpanda Earn offers a multitude of tools to earn up to 10% APY on certain cryptos. You can manage your staking from the Bitpanda DeFi Wallet.

Bitpanda DeFi Wallet: non-custodial wallet for your funds
A must-have for serious crypto investors: the Bitpanda DeFi Wallet is a non-custodial crypto wallet that puts you in full control of your private keys. It lets you store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies across different blockchains. Note that this wallet is not part of the Bitpanda app and is downloaded separately on Android and iOS.
Vision: a native token for staking and governance
A good crypto platform without its own native token is like almond paste without a fig: Bitpanda recently introduced VSN, a token available to all users. It allows speculating on its future growth and staking up to 10% APY. Even if the token has lost some value along with the rest of the cryptos in recent months, owning it gives you a say in the platform’s collective decisions.
Other aspects of the platform
Bitpanda also offers a payment card, the Bitpanda Card, allowing investors to spend their investments by converting the funds into fiat currency. It is also a debit card with no overdraft charges.
For a long time, it wasn’t accepted in France, but it is now a payment method accepted at millions of VIA merchants around the world. Another advantage? It carries no card fees or monthly account maintenance fees.
With the Bitpanda Card, every cryptocurrency purchase automatically earns a 1% cashback credited in the asset used, an actual improvement to the purchasing experience. For investors aiming to grow their portfolio on the digital asset market, the platform’s last year performance (€371 million in revenue and more than 7 million users) testifies to a solid trajectory, reinforced by ongoing improvements to the offering.

A personal savings plan in Bitcoin
The platform also lets users establish a personal savings plan with recurring purchases. Thus, buying bitcoins and other digital assets on a daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis reduces dependence on short-term price fluctuations and smooths risk over the long term. You can create as many savings plans as you wish.
When you close a savings plan, your assets are immediately available for potential conversion into other assets or cash. The technique closely resembles Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA), which helps smooth your investment over a given period.
Bitpanda Academy, to learn more
Finally, Bitpanda Academy is available in French. This blog allows you to learn with navigation-friendly tags based on your level of experience. There are courses on personal finance, crypto, and investing in general, for beginners and seasoned users alike.
Is Bitpanda reliable? What customers’ reviews actually say
On Trustpilot, Bitpanda scores 4.1/5 (“Good”) based on around 15,700 reviews, with a 99% response rate to negative reviews, a level of transparency rare in the crypto sector where many players leave negative reviews unanswered.
Five-star reviews mainly praise the support’s responsiveness once contact is made: phone appointments kept on time, clear answers to questions, disputes handled quickly. Several long-standing users also highlight the platform’s daily ease of use for buying and reselling their cryptos.
The most common friction point in negative reviews concerns accounts or features being blocked without a clearly communicated reason, particularly after an external crypto transfer. This is likely a consequence of AML5 checks. The lack of communication around blocking timelines also causes dissatisfaction.
Is Bitpanda a scam? No. It is a PSAN registered with the AMF and holds the MiCA license, the European framework’s most demanding standard to date for digital asset providers. These blocks relate to regulatory compliance procedures, not to the operation of a fraudulent platform that would seek to facilitate withdrawals to gain trust and then disappear.
Bitpanda and French taxation: what you need to know
Investing via Bitpanda in France involves meeting certain tax obligations, often overlooked by beginners. Here are the essential points to know before you start.
Flat tax on crypto capital gains
In 2026, capital gains from crypto disposals are subject to the flat-rate levy (PFU) of 30% (12.8% income tax + 17.2% social contributions).
Exemption threshold
If the total amount of your taxable disposals in the year does not exceed €305, you are exempt from tax. Note: this threshold applies to the total value of sales made in the year, not to your capital gains. Moreover, the exemption does not waive your reporting obligations.
Form 3916-bis remains mandatory
The BitPanda platform is registered with the AMF as a Digital Asset Service Provider (PSAN). However, contrary to a common belief, this status does not exempt you from filling out form 3916-bis (form 2086 also remains mandatory). Bitpanda is an Austrian company (Bitpanda GmbH, Vienna): your account is therefore considered foreign-held, triggering the reporting obligation under Article 1649 bis C of the French General Tax Code.
Bitpanda reporting tools
The platform provides an exportable transaction history (CSV) to facilitate tax filing. However, it does not provide an IFU (Imprimé Fiscal Unique) as a traditional French broker would, a point to anticipate if you manage a large volume of operations. Third-party tools specialized for crypto tax can automate the import of Bitpanda data via API.
DAC8 directive
Since January 1, 2026, the DAC8 directive, adopted in 2023, is fully in force. This means crypto platforms are obliged to collect their customers’ transaction data and transmit it to tax authorities.
Bitpanda vs. the competition
Bitpanda isn’t the only regulated crypto platform accessible in France. Kraken, Coinbase, and eToro are among the main alternatives that, like Bitpanda, obtained European MiCA approval — each through a different EU member state thanks to the passporting system that allows legal operation throughout the EU. This is what distinguishes these four platforms from others like Binance, which did not obtain the approval in time and had to suspend part of its trading services in France since July 1, 2026.
To help you place Bitpanda against these three direct competitors, here is a concise comparison.

Bitpanda: does it fit your profile?
Bitpanda does not target the same user profile depending on how you use it:
- Beginner: the interface is accessible with as little as €10 on cryptos, with Bitpanda Academy available in French to learn at your own pace. The regulated framework (PSAN, MiCA) allows you to start with minimal institutional risk.
- DC American savings plan: this is the profile Bitpanda excels at. The Savings feature lets you automate asset purchases without any recurring manual action.
- Multi-asset investor: 7,500+ stocks, 2,500 ETFs and 650+ cryptos all on a single regulated app.
- Active trader: Bitpanda Fusion aggregates prices from Binance, Coinbase and Kraken with tiered fees starting at 0.25%, and margin trading up to 10x on 100+ cryptos.
Bitpanda: Clubic’s verdict
Bitpanda offers more than 10,000 products in total, including around 7,500 stocks and 2,500 ETFs. Its success lies in expanding its offering over the years while providing increasingly simple and accessible tools (Bitpanda Fusion or the Vision token). Available on Android and iOS, the platform has bridged the gap between beginners and DeFi pros.
Among the most useful trading tools for crypto, the limit orders, increasingly diverse trading pairs, and diversified staking options stand out. Bitpanda also makes a strong pedagogical effort by offering courses and workshops for all levels. The company also offers a non-custodial wallet that will be appreciated by all investors who value security.
As the first platform to obtain the MiCA regulation, Bitpanda emphasizes user security. While initial identity verifications can be frustrating, they are a guarantee that the platform takes your money seriously, with a customer service that responds quickly via chat or email.
Crypto assets are highly volatile investment products. Although now regulated by the MiCA framework, these products carry capital loss risk.
