As Halloween draws nearer, Crumbl has centered this week’s lineup around all things spooky. The timing feels right, and the items on the menu sound especially tasty. From sweets that mimic our favorite trick-or-treating candies to a Halloween twist on Crumbl’s classics, there’s plenty to anticipate. Yet our curiosity tends to get the better of us.

This week we decided to sample Crumbl’s Halloween edition of their popular Confetti Milkshake Cookie firsthand. It features confetti sugar cookie dough rolled in green and purple sprinkles. After baking, it gets crowned with cake-flavored buttercream and a single dollop of whipped cream for garnish. It’s served cold to mirror that milkshake vibe as well. So, shall we dive into whether this cookie is worth trying for yourself?

Our Official Sporked Review

Cons — Here’s the thing: Crumbl’s sugar cookies don’t fare well when refrigerated. Because they intentionally underbake them to preserve that gooey center, the cookie texture becomes rather unappealing when cold. On top of that, the frosting’s texture doesn’t hold up well when chilled either, since the butter in the icing solidifies so much that it feels like the icing breaks off in chunks rather than allowing you to enjoy the creamy frosting.

Texture aside, though, this cookie doesn’t deliver flavor worth writing home about. It’s outrageously sweet with little to balance it, and overall it comes off fairly bland. I would have expected the frosting to contribute more to the taste, but it largely falls flat. The only noticeable difference from Crumbl’s other buttercream is that it’s a touch creamier. Otherwise, it’s more of the same.
