Finom Review (2026): Is This Online Bank Worth It for Professionals?

September 6, 2026
Tech

Managing a professional account without juggling ten different tools for invoicing and accounting: that’s the bet Finom is making, a 100% online bank based in the Netherlands and designed for freelancers as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. Rather than settling for a mere digitized bank account, the platform brings under one roof the essentials of daily administration: invoicing, bookkeeping tracking, and many other functions designed to save time. The question remains: how much is Finom really worth after sustained use, beyond the promises displayed on the site. We put the solution under the microscope to deliver our 2026 verdict.

Finom is a digital solution that provides professionals with a complete professional account featuring a French IBAN, along with invoicing, expense management, and accounting synchronization tools, all accessible online via a mobile app or a web interface.

This platform, although comparable in use to what some neobanks offer, is not a traditional bank: it operates as an electronic money institution and payment service provider, authorized by European financial authorities and partnered with regulated entities to offer electronic money services.

Finom’s offering is designed to accompany freelancers, sole traders, very small enterprises (SMEs) and small to medium-sized companies, wherever they are in their development, by enabling them to centralize the management of their financial and administrative operations on a single platform.

What is Finom?

Overview and history

Finom is a digital platform for professionals that operates as an electronic money institution and payment service authorized within the European Union. It bundles a professional account with modern financial management tools.

Founded in 2020 in Amsterdam by Andrey Petrov, Oleg Laguta, Kos Stiskin, and Yakov Novikov, its mission has been to simplify cash flow and administrative management for freelancers, sole traders and small to medium-sized enterprises. Since its inception, Finom has expanded across several European countries by offering pro accounts with local IBANs in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

In May 2025, the company secured a growth investment of €92.7 million from the General Catalyst Customer Value Fund to support its expansion on the continent. Shortly after, on June 23, 2025, Finom announced a Series C funding round of €115 million, led by AVP with participation from General Catalyst, Northzone and Cogito Capital, bringing the total funding raised since launch to over €300 million.

These resources have enabled Finom to grow its client base to over 125,000 professional customers and set an ambitious strategic objective: reach one million users in Europe by the end of 2026 and thus consolidate its presence in the market of digital financial solutions.

Who is it for?

Finom covers the self-employed (EI, EIRL, micro-entrepreneur) as well as companies (EURL, SASU, SARL, SAS, SEL, SNC, SCP, SC, SA).

The Solo account, priced at 0 euro, is now exclusively reserved for freelancers. Intermediate and higher-tier plans target micro, small and medium-sized businesses needing advanced team and cash management features.

However, Finom is not suitable for activities that require regular cash deposits, cheque processing or physical point-of-sale terminals (TPE), features not included in the offering.

🔥 Current offer at Finom

Currently, and until March 9, 2026, Finom is offering two promotions on its Pro and Grow plans for the first three months:

  • The Pro offer for micro-entrepreneurs is 112 instead of 149 € excluding VAT per month when paid yearly;
  • The Grow offer for micro-entrepreneurs and SMEs is 234 instead of 249 € excluding VAT per month when paid yearly

Finom features

Account and transaction management

Since the new license in June 2024, customers can open a fully operational account with a French IBAN in less than 24 hours.

Each plan includes one or more wallets (sub-accounts), each with its own IBAN, enabling cash management by project, by VAT, or by collaborator.

SEPA transfers (SCT) and direct debits are included in all plans, as are SEPA instant transfers.

For international payments, clients can send payments to over 150 countries in 17 currencies under their own license, at competitive rates.

The multi-banking feature allows connecting other existing bank accounts for a consolidated view from the Finom interface.

Billing and accounting tools

This is one of Finom’s strengths, setting it apart from competitors in the market. An invoicing and quote creation tool is built directly into the app from the free plan.

The user can generate invoices in just 60 seconds and send them to clients by email using popular messaging systems, with access to all invoices at any time via a centralized dashboard. A QR code can be added to each invoice to allow clients to pay in seconds from their banking app. Invoice status tracking is included from the Basic plan, as well as template customization and multi-currency invoices on higher plans. Automatic document collection (invoices, receipts, and other documents by email) is built directly into the Finom account.

Access for an accountant is available from the Basic plan.

Expense and team management

Finom offers fine-grained role and access management for team members. Advanced card limit controls can decide where and how the team spends, from setting per-category limits to blocking online or international payments. Wallets can be assigned by team or by project, with reallocation of cards as needed.

The cards are Visa-based (the lineup migrated from Mastercard to Visa). From the Basic plan, a physical card is included free of charge (and up to three per user included with Smart).

An optional Prime card at €14.99, available from the Basic plan, offers free card payments in foreign currencies up to €20,000, access to business lounges up to twice per quarter and a free 1 GB eSIM.

On 18 June 2026 Finom launched its Metal card, a premium Visa debit card at €29.99/month (included at no extra cost in the Grow plan), offering 1.2% cashback on business expenses up to €5,000/month and no Finom foreign-exchange fees on payments in foreign currencies up to €100,000/month. The card also includes monthly airport lounge access, two fast-track passes, two eSIMs and reimbursement of the first month’s subscription to IA tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Cursor) paid with the card.

Integrations and API

Finom supports Apple Pay and Google Pay for mobile payments and offers payments to more than 150 countries in 24 currencies.

Full API access is available on all plans. The platform synchronizes with major accounting software in the French market.

However, Finom is not compatible with Wise: card payments from Finom are blocked on the Wise platform. There is no native, officially documented connector for platforms like Stripe or Shopify.

The Finom interest-earning account

Finom offers a paid account accessible to all subscribers, including the free Solo plan. The idea is simple: you transfer unused liquidity (tax reserves, salary provisions, working capital) into a dedicated portfolio that earns interest calculated and credited daily, with no minimum deposit and no opening fees.

The rate is set at 5% per year for the first five months for all plans. After this period, it shifts to a competitive rate that can reach 2% per year. Funds remain readily available, with instant transfer back to Finom’s main account, without withdrawal penalties.

The funds are placed in low-risk money market funds via Aksys Global Markets Europe Ltd, a regulated investment company compliant with MiFID II. Assets are held in segregated accounts, strictly separate from Finom’s own funds.

Fees to watch

Note a few charges in Finom’s pricing grid. On the Solo plan, there is a 0.30% commission on SEPA transfers above €2,500/month, up to €100,000/month.

ATM withdrawals incur progressive fees depending on the band: Solo: 1% up to €500/month, then 3% from €500 to €2,000, 5% from €2,000 to €5,000, 8% from €5,000 to €10,000, and 8% beyond.

Basic: free up to €500/month, then 1% from €500 to €2,000, 5% from €2,000 to €5,000, 8% from €5,000 to €10,000, 8% beyond.

Card payments in foreign currencies (non-EUR) cost 3% on Solo (any amount). On Basic, 0% up to €500/month then 2% beyond. On Smart, 0% up to €500/month then 1% beyond.

A monthly charge of €1 applies per inactive virtual card on Solo (€0 on Basic and Smart).

Direct debit rejection for insufficient funds is charged €5 on all plans.

Value for money

Finom is a modern, flexible banking solution, well-suited to the day-to-day needs of professionals, while remaining accessible and affordable. The offerings are varied: the Solo option is free for freelancers, while paid plans range from €17 to €249 per month.

At the entry-level paid tier (€17/month), Finom is pricier than Qonto (€9/month) and Shine (€11/month for Start). Cashback of up to 3% on the Smart plan at €37/month clearly stands out, as the two competitors do not offer this. Pro and Grow are positioned in the premium segment, justified by advanced team features and higher transaction limits.

User experience

Mobile app

Finom is available on iOS and Android. In the French App Store, the app is rated 4.8/5 from about 2,500 reviews. On Google Play, it scores 4.8 stars from over 4,600 reviews. The app covers all banking and invoicing features: creating invoices, managing cards, viewing wallets, real-time notifications, and 3DS payment validation. Apple Pay and Google Pay are natively supported.

Web interface

The web dashboard allows you to manage the entire account from a browser: transactions, teams, invoices, card configurations and wallets. For daily management, visual cash-flow forecasting and smart transaction search filters save a lot of time.

Security and reliability

Regulatory status and framework

Finom operates as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) under the name PNL Fintech B.V.

Finom Payments B.V. is an authorized and regulated EMI by the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and is registered with the ACPR in France.

It is not a credit institution. Funds deposited with an EMI are not covered by the FGDR deposit guarantee scheme.

However, client funds are protected by a nostro/vostro segregation with a bank account, isolating them from the EMI’s own funds. In the event of Finom’s bankruptcy, this arrangement protects clients. The FGDR would only intervene if the bank holding the segregated account itself failed, up to €100,000 per client.

Finom has established this settlement with BNP Paribas and maintains an independent Safeguarding Foundation supervised by the DNB.

Data protection and funds safeguarding

Client funds are segregated at BNP Paribas to ensure they are not mixed with Finom’s own funds.

Strong authentication (2FA without password, one-time codes) is native. Finom complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and stores client data securely.

Advanced card-limit management (block by category or by geographic area) is available from the Smart plan.

Finom customer service

Contact channels

Finom does not provide a phone number. The only contact channels are in-app chat and email (hello@finom.co). Weekend support is not offered on plans below Pro. From the Pro plan, clients have a dedicated account-management team, and on the Grow plan a single dedicated manager. An AI assistant is also available.

Quality and responsiveness

The response times announced in Finom’s official grid are as follows:

  • By chat:

    • Solo: up to 1 business day;
    • Basic: up to 3 hours;
    • Smart, Pro and Grow: up to 3 minutes.
  • By email:

    • Solo: up to 1 business day;
    • Basic: up to 3 hours;
    • Smart and Pro: up to 30 minutes;
    • Grow: up to 30 minutes.

Finom’s Trustpilot rating has been steadily improving since late 2023, reflecting a commitment to continuously improving customer service.

Several recent reviews praise the responsiveness of advisors. However, Finom’s customer service is somewhat less effective than Shine and Qonto.

Where it hurts, is the absence of a telephone line: in case of a blocked Finom account, resolution times can lengthen since direct access to a consultant is not possible.

Customer reviews about Finom

What users say

As seen, Finom has accumulated more than 13,700 reviews on Trustpilot with a rating of 4.7/5. On the App Store, the score is 4.8/5 from over 2,500 reviews. On Google Play, it stands at 4.8 stars from more than 4,600 reviews.

These scores place Finom in the upper range for a professional neobank, with a notable edge on the App Store where iOS reviews are typically more enthusiastic.

Recurring satisfaction points

According to the mentioned platforms, five satisfaction themes emerge for Finom’s users.

First, the account opening is fast and fully online.

Then, the clear and intuitive interface, both on mobile and web.

Many users also praise the platform’s completeness: quotes, invoices, multiple wallets, virtual cards, automated reminders and direct payment links.

A strong argument remains the Solo plan’s gratuity for sole business owners.

Finally, the value for money is viewed as well-suited for sole traders, with attractive pricing and easy-to-use invoicing tools.

Critiques and areas for improvement

Negative feedback highlights two recurrent criticisms of Finom.

The most common concerns are temporary account blocks with inaccessible access lasting several days, and payments sometimes being canceled even when they originate from local authorities.

Other users lament structural limitations: absence of cheque and cash deposits, and incompatibility with Wise.

Compared to Qonto, Finom is less accessible on entry-level pricing but offers cashback. Qonto stands out for cheque processing from Smart plan and 7-day-a-week support.

Shine differentiates Finom by allowing cash deposits on all its offers (with fees depending on plan) and cheque processing from the Start offer. Its human support is available 7 days a week, by phone or in writing, a notable advantage over Finom which does not offer telephone support.
