A few days have slipped by since Halloween wrapped up, and the big restaurant chains have already begun unveiling their festive flavors. With each passing year, Thanksgiving seems to fade a bit further from memory, and November 1 has come to signal the start of the holiday season in many people’s minds.
- Cookie Butter Iced Coffee
-
Among the flavored fast-food coffee options, this stands out as one of the strongest iterations we’ve encountered. It surpasses much of what the big chains offer and presents itself as genuinely coffee-forward, while the added flavor notes complement and harmonize with the coffee essence. It leans a touch toward caramel, but not in an artificial way, and the nuanced warming spices give the drink a depth that edges toward festive holiday flavors without becoming overpowering. In our view, this is essentially as good as fast-food coffee gets.
- Cookie Butter Latte
-
This latte represented a definite improvement over the frappe in nearly every respect. The flavor is delicate and comes across as sweet, warm, and complex, yet without the heavier artificial notes that can sometimes accompany McDonald’s coffees. Instead, it feels like a genuinely pleasant drink with a subtle spiciness that nods to the holiday season. That said, a lot of that flavor was overwhelmed by a pronounced burnt espresso aftertaste. It’s worth noting that in the latte variant of this seasonal flavor, the hot version was clearly the better option of the two.
- Cookie Butter Frappe
-
Sipping the frappe option from this collection produced the most peculiar impression. Honestly, it seemed to carry an entirely different flavor or syrup than the rest of the lineup, making it far too sweet and markedly less successful as a drink. It tastes considerably more artificial and lacks the simple, deep cookie-butter flavor of the other three beverages. Of the drinks available in this collection, this is the only one I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t drink again. The coffee flavor is scarcely detectable, and the overall composition feels off.
