If you live for sauce, Buffalo Wild Wings has long been the go-to spot for flavor hunters. This sports-themed wing joint has offered a dizzying array of sauces for as long as anyone can remember, with fresh drops arriving as quickly as we can document them. (Anyone else still thinking about last year’s Chipotle Honey Mustard release? Heinz, please bring those bottles back on shelves ASAP.)
Earlier this season, Buffalo Wild Wings rolled out six brand-new dipping sauces in partnership with Heinz, aimed at pairing perfectly with the chain’s broad lineup of dippable staples like chicken tenders and fries. I picked up the entire lineup along with the iconic chicken strips and the superior potato wedges to judge which of these worldwide-inspired sauces deserves a permanent place on the menu.
- Yuzu Wasabi Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
I approached this sauce with a cautious curiosity, not a fan of heat for heat’s sake. I didn’t expect to dislike it, but I also didn’t anticipate it delivering true punch. The yuzu brings brightness, and there’s a hint of horseradish-like bite at the back of the mouth, yet it never crosses into a genuinely fiery, wasabi-level experience.
Strangely enough, I find this one oddly appealing. If I end up enjoying it, it’s not going to satisfy those chasing real wasabi heat. Instead, it might give folks a false sense of confidence when they eventually meet genuine wasabi…
- Creamy Chimichurri Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
This creamy interpretation of a garlic-and-herb chimichurri brings a smooth, indulgent texture to the table and certainly has a place on Buffalo Wild Wings’ menu. I’m not entirely sure where it best fits, though. A chimichurri-based topping might shine on a burger if paired with the right build, but for wings, the chunky texture makes tossing with wings a tad awkward; it also isn’t ideal for dipping the requested tenders.
- Smoky Elote Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
Not my personal favorite, but this smoky corn-inspired sauce could become a standout on the permanent menu. Its nuanced profile harmonizes nicely with chicken and wedges, two core components of the chain’s dipping and tossing options.
It isn’t meant to be fiery, but the slow, subtle smokiness acts as a calm bridge between hotter sauces, allowing their heat to linger without overpowering the palate with a separate taste profile. Buffalo Wild Wings should consider keeping this one around and phasing out a more generic barbecue option.
- Peri Peri Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
As a longtime aficionado of peri-peri chicken, I was pleasantly surprised by the balance between savory notes and heat in Buffalo Wild Wings’ overdue spin on the African classic. While I usually opt for a milder approach, this version leans just enough toward heat to satisfy those chasing a little kick. If I were to wager, I’d expect this sauce to remain on the menu to compete with other spicy options.
In practice, the peri-peri flavor pairs well with the standard wings and wedges, delivering a consistent heat that doesn’t overwhelm the other tastes on the plate.
- Sweet Curry Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
I was surprised to learn Buffalo Wild Wings didn’t already offer a curry sauce on the menu… until I discovered they actually did. While the existing Thai Curry sauce delivers heat in the style of red curry, this new interpretation clearly trends toward the milder yellow-curry end of the spectrum.
This sauce transformed my wedges, to the point I nearly devoured the entire tray before sampling the other sauces. It’s my favorite among the new dipping lineup, but it isn’t at the top just yet for reasons that will become clear… (Spoiler: Sweet Curry isn’t hot.)
- Maple Sweet Chili Buffalo Wild Wings X Heinz Dipping Sauce Review
-
My partner in this dipping-sauce ranking already tried the lineup and claimed this one stood out as the obvious winner among the six. While I still prefer the Sweet Curry, I won’t dispute that this maple-kissed sweet-heat option likely resonates best with Buffalo Wild Wings’ spice-savvy crowd.
Despite the name, the base appears to originate from a solid sweet chili sauce, with the maple component simply amplifying the stickiness. If I could retain only one of these sauces forever, this would be my pick.
