That’s a major development—and a point the Girl Scouts proudly highlights on the brightly cheerful pink box: “Allergy-friendly, gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan.” The only remaining question is whether they’re tasty enough to earn a badge.

Pros: These cookies are a touch smaller, but they rest on a sweet, crisp-yet-tender oat-based foundation (with a bit of help from cassava and rice flours) that keeps them light. You wouldn’t readily notice they’re gluten-free in the way some GF foods call attention to themselves. They offer a brisk crunch with a hint of chew and carry a delicate cinnamon note, reminiscent of a classic oatmeal cookie—occasionally punctuated by a pleasant chocolate chip surprise.
Cons: I hesitate to dwell on any downsides for a box of bright, inclusive, allergy-aware cookies that feature smiling kids on the packaging, so I’ll tread carefully.
